As of Wednesday, May 3, 2023, iGA Istanbul Airport, Europe's busiest and one of the world's most important global transfer hubs, welcomed its 200 millionth passenger, reaching yet another milestone. iGA Istanbul Airport hosted an event in celebration of this momentous day.
Having reached this significant milestone of welcoming 200 million passengers since October 29, 2018, iGA Istanbul Airport has achieved phenomenal success in the aviation industry. Taking the aviation industry to the next level in Türkiye, with its exceptional architecture, robust infrastructure, state-of-the-art technology, and sustainability practices, iGA Istanbul Airport hosted a send-off event in honor of its 200 millionth passenger.
Traveling from Istanbul to Singapore, Carine Lee, 32 was presented with a 200 millionth passenger plaque and a gift card from Unifree, valid at the duty-free store. At the plaque ceremony, Mehmet Büyükkaytan, Vice President of Operations at iGA Istanbul Airport, gifted an iGA PASS Premium subscription to Lee. Saying that it was a huge surprise to be the 200 millionth passenger Lee, before boarding the flight to Signapore, added that traveling from iGA Istanbul Airport had made the trip much more comfortable.
Since the start of its operations, iGA Istanbul Airport has welcomed 51,506,183 national passengers and 148,493,817 international passengers, with over 23 million since the start of this year.
During its 4.5 years of activity, its domestic flights to Antalya have generated the largest volume with 6,335,248 passengers, followed by flights to Izmir with 6,175,472 passengers, Ankara with 4,874,014 passengers, Adana with 3,603,883 passengers, and Trabzon with 2,538,284 passengers.
As far as international flights are concerned, Tehran became the top destination with 5,764,713 passengers, followed by Moscow with 4,503,075 passengers, London with 3,786,903 passengers, Dubai with 3,214,308 passengers, and Tel Aviv with 2,723,274 passengers.
