Who We Are

iGA (Istanbul Grand Airport) is an airport infrastructure contractor company, established in October 7, 2013 to construct the Istanbul Airport and operate it for 25 years. iGA Istanbul Airport is 35 km to the city center. The construction plan of the airport was divided into four phases. Within the scope of the first phase, currently there are three runways and a terminal building with a 90-million passenger capacity. Once all phases are completed, iGA Istanbul Airport is expected to serve 200 million passengers annually.

As of April 2022, the partnership status of iGA, which is progressing towards its future goals with conviction in aviation as Türkiye's foremost strategic line of business, due to its solid partnership structure, is as follows: 55% to Kalyon Havacılık ve İnşaat A.Ş., 45% to Cengiz İnşaat Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş.

iGA's Journey

iGA (Istanbul Grand Airport), established by the Cengiz-MAPA-Limak-Kolin-Kalyon Joint Venture Group in October 7, 2013, with the mission of introducing a new airport to Istanbul, a city considered among the most developed urban centers in the world and has been home to numerous civilizations for thousands of years, succeeded in completing Istanbul Airport, one of the biggest infrastructure projects of Türkiye, at the end of a record construction period of 42 months. In this successful journey of iGA, which was established with the contract price of 22 billion 152 million Euros, the highest bid for a 25-year lease deal; architects, engineers, laborers and a team of workers comprised of hundreds of thousands of individuals put all their energy into bringing a new "Victory Monument" to Türkiye in the area of economic and financial development of our country.

After completing the first of the four phases of the construction process in record time (42 months), the Grand Opening of iGA Istanbul Airport was held by Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the President of the Republic of Türkiye, in October 29, 2018, and iGA Istanbul Airport started its service in full capacity on April 6, 2019. As per its 25-year operating rights, iGA continues its operations at Istanbul Airport, where phase 1 was completed with its third runway, which was put into service in June 18, 2020. iGA Istanbul Airport continues to serve with an annual passenger capacity of 90 million, a main terminal building of 1.4 million square metres, three independent runways, an air control tower and support facilities. iGA Istanbul Airport, which will be the largest airport in the world when all phases are -completed, is expected to create an ecosystem that will meet 5 percent¬ of Türkiye's Gross National Product.

Throughout its four-year journey, İGA Istanbul Airport has been honored with numerous national and international awards and certifications, thanks to its exemplary practices in the aviation industry. İGA Istanbul Airport received the "Airport Pandemic Certificate" from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation and subsequently signed the "Covid-19 Aviation Health Safety Protocol" published by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), achieving significant success with this international certification.

It also became the first airport in the world to receive the "Airport Health Accreditation" certificate from the Airports Council International (ACI). Furthermore, at the 16th ACI Europe Awards, it was granted the "Digital Transformation Award," earning the title of Europe’s Best Airport in the field of digital transformation. In addition to these accolades, it was rated a "5-Star Airport" by Skytrax, one of the most prestigious aviation organizations. Combined with its "5-Star Covid-19 Safety Rating," İGA became one of only two airports in the world to hold both 5-star titles simultaneously.

İGA Istanbul Airport has also been chosen as the 'World’s Best Airport' by Condé Nast Traveler and Travel + Leisure, both of which are highly distinguished publications around the world. İGA's success is not limited to this; it was named "Airport of the Year" by Regional Air Transport in 2021 and 2022. It also received the "Best Transfer Airport" and "Best Family-Friendly International Airport" awards at the 2022 Leisure Lifestyle Awards by the US-based Global Traveler magazine.

Additionally, İGA Istanbul Airport has received the "Outstanding Achievement" award from the Airline Passenger Experience Association (APEX), as well as "Best Syndicated Loan in the EMEA Region" and "Deal of the Year" from EMEA Finance. İGA’s 5.8 billion Euro debt refinancing in 2021 was named "Infrastructure Finance Deal of the Year" by Bonds, Loans & Sukuk Turkey. According to the ACI EUROPE 2025 report, it became the "World’s Best Connectivity Hub" and the airport with the highest direct connectivity in Europe. Based on 2025 data, İGA Istanbul Airport maintained its status as one of Europe’s most punctual major hubs, increasing its punctuality rate to over 80% in the "Global Airports" category.
