İGA Istanbul Airport has been honoured with the "Best Airport" award by ACI Europe. Speaking at the 34th ACI EUROPE Annual Congress & General Assembly, İGA Istanbul Airport CEO Selahattin Bilgen said: "We will continue to improve the future of Turkey's aviation and tourism sectors with determination."
İGA Istanbul Airport, one of the leading organisations in the global aviation industry, was awarded the "Best Airport" award in the "over 40 million passengers" category by ACI Europe (Airports Council International Europe), which works for the operational excellence of airports in Europe. İGA Istanbul Airport shared the award with Rome Fiumicino Airport, last year's winner with the same score.
The award of İGA Istanbul Airport was presented to Selahattin Bilgen, CEO of İGA Istanbul Airport, by Olivier Jankovec, Director General of ACI Europe. Stating that the "Best Airport in Europe" award will be an inspiration to continue to aim for excellence, Bilgen said: "We are always looking for new ways to exceed the expectations of our guests at the airport in the areas of sustainability, accessibility, innovation and technological advancement. We will continue to improve the future of Turkish aviation and tourism sectors with determination."
Next year's ACI EUROPE Annual Congress & General Assembly will be organised in Athens, the capital of Greece, hosted by Athens Elefterios Venizelos International Airport. Athens Elefterios Venizelos International Airport officials received the flag from Mehmet Büyükkaytan, Deputy CEO & COO at İGA Istanbul Airport, at the 'handover' ceremony in Istanbul.
İGA Istanbul Airport will host ACI World in 2026
The "ACI EUROPE Annual Congress & General Assembly", hosted by İGA Istanbul Airport between 1-4 July, was attended by the leading CEOs and senior executives of the sector and more than 500 airport professionals from around the world. The opening speeches were delivered by Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure; Selahattin Bilgen, CEO of İGA Istanbul Airport; and Olivier Jankovec, Director General of ACI Europe. The current state of the aviation industry in Europe, the challenges it faces and future expectations, insights into the economic situation of the industry and policies for the coming year were discussed at the Congress.
On the other hand, it was announced that İGA Istanbul Airport, which has been leading the aviation industry internationally, will host the ACI World "Customer Experience Summit" in 2026. The signing ceremony for the Summit, attended by Selahattin Bilgen and ACI World Director General and CEO Luis Felipe de Oliviera, was held on the last day of the 34th Airports Council of Europe Annual General Congress.
