Icelandair, the national airline of Iceland, will start its flights to iGA Istanbul Airport on September 5, 2025. The flights will be organized 4 times a week from Keflavik International Airport in Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland, to Istanbul, and will connect Icelandair passengers in North America and Iceland to Asia and the Middle East, and Turkish Airlines passengers departing from Istanbul to Iceland, Canada and North America.
Welcoming 67.6 million passengers in the first 10 months of 2024, iGA Istanbul Airport is increasing its power in the international arena with its connection points at 321 destinations around the world and the number of airlines it adds to its network.
Icelandair, one of the most important airlines in Northern Europe and the national airline of Iceland, will start its flights to Istanbul on September 5, 2025, 4 times a week. Icelandair will operate with Boeing 737-MAX8 type aircraft with a capacity of 160 seats, and the start of Icelandair's operations at iGA Istanbul Airport is also of great importance in terms of offering a wide network to passengers.
According to the codeshare agreement signed between Icelandair and Turkish Airlines (TK), Icelandair passengers in North America and Iceland will be able to connect to the east, especially to Asia and the Middle East via the TK network, while TK passengers will be able to connect to the west, Iceland, Canada and North America via Icelandair flights. Thanks to code-sharing, passengers will be able to travel on a single ticket and benefit from the convenience of having their baggage delivered to the final destination.
Expressing their satisfaction with the start of Icelandair's operations in Istanbul, Server Aydın, Chief Commercial Officer at iGA Istanbul Airport, said:
