Our Journey
Breaking new ground, breaking records, and overcoming impossibilities...
DiscoverWithin the scope of TAMP (Turkey National Disaster Response Plan) and IRAP (Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Plan), an Earthquake Response Plan for Istanbul Airport was prepared as a result of the studies carried out with the participation of all public and private organizations operating within Istanbul Airport.
As part of the 2021 Disaster Education year, disaster awareness training was prepared by the Presidency of Disaster and Emergency Management, AFAD, and was shared with all institutions and organizations to raise awareness.
The ground features and dimensions of the potential land where emergency relief shelters can be installed after a disaster by AFAD within the airport boundaries were determined, and the relevant area was designated for this.
In coordination with the iGA Transportation Coordination Directorate, 60 members of staff from iGA Havalimanı İşletme A.Ş., were provided with actual tent installation training by the Turkish Red Crescent. These training practices are planned to continue.
The staff members who will set up tents were also given theoretical training for earthquake disasters by the Turkish Red Crescent.
All institutions and organizations operating at the airport provided supplies and stock necessary for food/beverage needs for the first 72 to 120 hours after a potential disaster.
Storage areas for humanitarian supplies (medicine, blankets, etc.) that will be sent to our country after a possible earthquake have been determined.
