Sun d’Or Airlines has Resumed Flights to iGA Istanbul Airport
Sun d'Or Airlines, a subsidiary airline brand of the Israeli El Al Group, has announced that its flights to Türkiye have resumed. The first flight by Sun d'Or took place on Thursday 30 March, and the airline will be operating four weekly flights to Istanbul on Sundays, Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
- Sun d'Or Airlines, a subsidiary airline of the El Al Group, sent a relief plane to the earthquake-affected regions in cooperation with the Union and Salvation Organisation, having announced that it would be resuming flights to Türkiye after a 15-year hiatus.
- Sun d'Or, one of Israel's leading airline companies, made its first flight to Istanbul Airport (iGA) on Thursday 30 March. A welcome reception was held at Gate D8, on the International Arrivals floor of iGA Istanbul Airport. Gal Gershon, CEO of Sun d'Or and Melih Mengü, Advisor to the CEO at iGA Istanbul Airport, attended the reception on behalf of their companies.
- Sun d'Or Airlines will operate four weekly flights to Istanbul Airport (iGA) on Sundays, Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays. With tickets being sold for $199, flights will be operated on Sun d'Or/El Al's planes, which also offer Business Class seating. Economy Class passengers will be offered Business Class seats as a preferred seating option for an additional fee.
- In his speech at the ceremony, iGA Istanbul Airport CEO Consultant Melih Mengü stated, “First of all, we would like to express our utmost gratitude to Sun d’Or Airlines for sending a relief aid flight to the region hit by the earthquake. At long last, we are very happy and thrilled to host an Israeli airline at iGA Istanbul Airport again. The collaboration of Sun d’Or and iGA Istanbul Airport is an excellent opportunity to reinforce the Türkiye-Israel relations.”
- Sun d'Or CEO, Gal Gershon, stated that "Today, we are starting a route in the region where we have not operated for 15 years, and we are doing this with Istanbul. We are also pleased to see the strengthening of the relations between the two countries. We will continue to develop our relations both in terms of humanitarian and tourism purposes. Istanbul has always been a favourite destination for the Israeli people, and we plan to launch flights to additional holiday destinations in Türkiye in the future."
