Our Journey
Breaking new ground, breaking records, and overcoming impossibilities...
DiscoverTürkiye's flight range to Europe, Middle East, Central Asia, North and East Europe is only five hours and the country's geographical location has a strategic significance in terms of cargo and logistics operations. With continuously growing investment by domestic and foreign companies due to the strategic location of our country, iGA Istanbul Airport has made a significant contribution to the country's economy and aims to be one of the largest cargo hubs in the world.
Between 2009 and 2017, cargo operations compound annual growth rate (CAGR) increased by 18.7% and aircraft movement (ATM - landing take-off total aircraft movement) compound annual growth rate increased by 5.5%. The key players at our iGA Istanbul Airport Cargo Hub; THY, MNG, UPS, DHL EXPRESS, HAVAŞ, ÇELEBİ, S SİSTEM, and PTT operate in an area of approximately 1,481,214 m² (599,010 m² indoor space and 882,204 m² outdoor space). The figure of 1.4 million m² refers to the total area of the indoor and outdoor spaces. In addition to the existing facilities, two temporary storage facilities will be opened in May this year, with 13,155 m² (indoor area) allocated to FedEx and 9,609 m² (indoor area) allocated to Trendyol.
Many important domestic and foreign companies providing services in the fields of cargo, logistics and temporary storage are located in the Cargo and Logistics Centre.
Parking positions for this center, where more than 30 wide-body cargo airplanes can park or dock simultaneously, are located in front of the warehouse. The efficient operation infrastructure that extends between passenger terminals and distant parking areas provides great convenience. The functional structure uses the service tunnels on the airside and follows a path under runways and taxi routes without being affected from the airplane traffic.
At the iGA Istanbul Airport Cargo Hub, the warehouse, agency buildings, customs offices, and all cargo/logistics operations are located in the same place. In addition, various service centers, such as banks, cafés, restaurants, dry cleaners, hair dresser's, PTT, prayer rooms, a veterinarian clinic, a health center, and test labs are being planned for the convenience of anyone who will use the hub for business purposes, especially the personnel of the companies located here. Currently, there are ATMs, restaurants, markets, PTT (postal services), and prayer areas available. Car parks, where 4,500 large and small vehicles can be parked in the total 86,000 square meter usage area planned for the Cargo and Logistics Center, circulation is intense.
The Cargo Hub and Logistics Center hosts many domestic and foreign companies that provide services such as warehousing, temporary storage, duty-free storage, logistics, handling, line maintenance, and airline catering. It is located at a wide area in order to provide services such as storage of imported and exported cargo goods, storage of goods whose customs clearance is processed and in free circulation, along with ground services, line maintenance and airline catering to meet customer needs at the highest level.
With the leading companies of the industry such as Turkish Cargo, Çelebi, HavaŞ, MNG, UPS, S Sistem, and DHL Express, iGA Istanbul Airport Cargo Hub is rapidly moving forward to become the world's largest cargo hub. At the same time, with the time-dependent service quality in the field of aircraft maintenance facilities of our Aircraft Maintenance and Repair Center, established on an area of 700 thousand square meters located between two parallel runways, Cargo Hub has the potential to become the leader of the industry worldwide. In addition, it will create an infrastructure of aircraft part supply in the aviation industry, reducing foreign-source dependency and becoming a worldwide center in this field.
Furthermore, there are parking lots where 18 thousand large and small vehicles can park in the total usage area of 456.000 square meters planned for backup areas where the circulation is intense, and there is an alternative entrance for passengers and employees to access the Cargo Hub without being stuck in traffic during rush hour.
Directorate of Airport Hub and Rental Areas rent the spaces located in the Cargo Hub to domestic and foreign companies that provide services such as temporary and duty-free storage, handling, airline catering, and line maintenance.
