The journey of İGA started on October 7, 2013. Cengiz-MAPA-Limak-Kolin-Kalyon JV joined forces for a new airport in Istanbul and eventually got awarded the contract to build and operate Istanbul Airport. Incorporated under the name İGA (İstanbul Grand Airport) on October 7, 2013 by the consortium awarded with the contract, İGA Airport Operation Inc. is currently continuing its activities with the aim of operating Istanbul Airport for 25 years, after having successfully completed its construction.
Istanbul Airport’s construction process that was completed in a record time of just 42 months was highly successful, but yet very challenging in so many ways. To keep its promise of bringing the world’s largest airport to Turkey, İGA pulled out all the stops with hundreds of thousands of staff members comprising architects, engineers, workers and laborers. Taking firm steps towards its future goals thanks to its strong partnership structure, İGA’s share structure as of the end of 2019 is as follows: Kalyon Aviation & Construction Co. Inc. 35%, Cengiz Construction Industry & Trade Co. Inc. 25%, Mapa Construction & Trade Co. Inc. 20%, and Limak Construction Industry & Trade Co. Inc. 20%.
Kalyon – Cengiz – Mapa – Limak Joint Venture operates in different industries nationwide and around the world including construction, energy, tourism, mining, port and airport management. The consortium has undertaken eight airport construction projects so far.
In addition, Limak Holding, a member of the consortium, has operational experience at Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen (Turkey) and Pristina (Kosovo) Airports.
